The Lawn Club sponsors summer camp programs for children ages 3 to 13. Our camps are run by trusted staff, experienced in the care and education of children, and include specialists in the theme of each camp program. We are always working to create quality children’s programs that both parents and kids can cheer about.

Summer Program

The New Haven Lawn Club’s Summer Program offers weekly themed sessions that create a different atmosphere each week for all children ages 3-11 to enjoy. Weekly themes vary and range from Science to the Arts, but each day gives children a chance to explore their own interests guided by our seasoned staff. Special offerings include Lego Robotics for ages 5-11 and Claymation for children ages 9-11. Each camp day includes a tennis lesson, a swim lesson, free play, and themed activities that encourage curiosity and learning. Our specialty camps (see below) allow children to explore an area of interest in more depth and strengthen their skills in a supportive community.

Half Day Program: Ages 3-5

This half day camp is perfect for our youngest members (ages 3 to 5) who may not be ready yet for all the stimulation of a full day program. Each camp day includes a group tennis lesson, a group swim lesson, free play, and themed activities. The activities provide children with opportunities to create individual projects and also work collaboratively. We believe in the power of friendship and the power of fun!

Specialty Camps: Writers’ Workshop, Creative Theatre Laboratory, and Swim Camps (Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced)

The Camp also offers a Writers Workshop that welcomes novice and experienced writers to a fun and collaborative setting. The goal is to inspire and nurture the development of the child’s love of story through reading and discussing favorite books, while writing and illustrating their own stories.

Creative Theatre Laboratory, led by members of Connecticut’s award-winning Broken Umbrella Theatre, invites young thespians to join us for a creative week of games, improvisation and writing and performing our own material.

Swim Camps give campers a chance to focus on their swimming skills under the direction of our Swim Pro, Scott Butler. These camps are offered by level and enrollment is reviewed by Scott so that there is a match in skill level among each weeks participants.

Internship Programs: Children Entering Grades 5-8

Our week long internship programs give children a chance to engage with professionals in the fields of Architecture, Law and Writing (Authors’ Workshop). Part of the camp program is spent in the field with professionals while the other half of the day includes lunch, swimming, and working on experiential projects related to the field of study.

Other Summer Programs for Young Members

Tennis Camp

The Lawn Club offers campers, ages 3 to 16, either a half or full day camp program with the focus on tennis. Kids will participate in age and skill level appropriate clinics and intramural competitions. Campers will enjoy other outside activities as well and have fun learning and playing with friends old and new.  Download the Application, or read our Tennis Welcome Letter

Tennis Lessons

Group lessons are offered as part of the Summer Program day. Private tennis instruction and skills clinics are available for our younger members throughout the summer months. Lessons are provided by experienced professionals and focus on the needs and goals of the individual. Coaches and families are often amazed at the change in athlete performance after a summer of concentrated individual training.

Squash Summer

Squash has no longer become just a winter sport; our Squash Pro Lynn Leong has kept the courts open all summer for an array of clinics and private lessons.  The Summer Program also includes a Squash option during a few weeks each summer.

Swimming Lessons

Group lessons are offered daily as part of the Summer Program. Private swim lessons are offered by our professional and certified pool staff. Lessons are available starting shortly after Memorial Day until the end of the summer. Young members can join the Swim Team and participate in interclub swim meets as well.
